Student achievements

Minister Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego przyznał studentowi ITC Piotrowi Bulińskiemu stypendium za wybitne osiągnięcia w roku akademickim 2012/2013. Stypendysta rozpoczynał studia na kierunku Mechanika i Budowa Maszyn, następnie od szóstego semestru pod kierunkiem Prof. Ryszarda Białeckiego studiuje w ramach indywidualnego toku studiów.

Praca magisterska mgr inż. Sylwii Kubickiej pt. Badania nad zmniejszeniem emisji tlenków azotu z wykorzystaniem termicznej utylizacji osadów ściekowych została nagrodzona w Konkursie absolwenckim Czas na staż organizowanym przez Regionalne Centrum Gospodarki Wodno-Ściekowej S.A. Promotorem pracy był dr inż. Sebastian Werle.

The Silesian Greenpower Team won the 2nd place in the race of light electric vehicles The Greenpower Corporate Challenge 2011 at the Silverstone Circuit in Great Britain and for the second time consecutively received the prize for the Best Engineered Car taking part in the competition. It is worth mentioning that Rafał Maślanka, a student of Mechanical Engineering and Machinery Design at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering, set and then equalized three times the circuit best lap (2:58).

 Wojciech Slósarczyk (the ITT graduate) became the winner in the competition organized by Fiat Poland company and the Silesian University of Technology for the best master and doctoral theses carried out at our university (2010 edition).

 

Wojciech Slósarczyk was one of winners, awarded for his diploma thesis titled Silesian Greenpower Vehicle ? a project of aerodynamic body shape, cooling system and selected mechanical elements. The thesis supervisor was Dr Jacek Smołka. The ceremony of awarding diplomas and prizes took place on April 5, 2011 in the Rector's Office at the University of Bielsko Biała.

On 21 June 2010 the contest for the best doctoral, master and engineer theses, organised by the ENEA PLC company, was adjudicated. The award committee, after becoming acquainted with the full versions of the theses, selected prize winners in individual categories. The main prize winner in the category of master theses became a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, Tomasz Malik.

The supervisors of the master thesis titled Energy and exergy analysis of hydrogen-oriented coal gasification with CO2 capture were Dr Marcin Liszka and Prof. Giampaolo Manfrida from the university in Florence. The author of the thesis is now a PhD student in the Institute of Thermal Technology in the Division of Power Engineering and Refrigeration. The thesis was written during a stay at the University in Florence in the Energy Department within the LLP-Erasmus programme.

The contest was aimed at students and PhD students who in their theses presented an inventive approach to:

  • electrical energy production from conventional sources in a friendly way for the natural environment,
  • management of energy consumption and costs in a household and local communities,
  • electrical energy production from renewable sources.
