Course: Clean Coal Technologies in KIC programme

Programme of the studies focuses on the important aspects of energy production from coal. Application of coal which, although a fossil fuel, is believed to be a good medium term solution. This is due to the fact that coal is an abundant energy resource available at a fairly stable price and comes from many international suppliers, thus guaranteeing energy security. As fossil fuels produce a lot of pollutants, among them CO2 and thus are considered to be responsible for degradation of environment and climatic changes, new and modern technologies - Clean Coal Technologies - are necessary. Along these lines new specialists must be educated who understand, apply and further develop methods, which may use coal to produce energy in environmentally friendly way.

The studies are organised in a two stage programme, where first two semesters are carried out at the Silesian University of Technology and the remaining two (including MSc thesis) at the site of the programme partners (KTH Stockholm, Sweden, KIT Karlsruhe, Germany or IST Lisbon, Portugal).
